President's Message

Dear Tourism Friend,

Welcome to the web site for the Decatur-Morgan County Hospitality Association! I am honored to lead a group of prestigious individuals who are devoted to serving our community. Leading the way for continuous tourism development, the Hospitality Association understands that teamwork with a common goal can accomplish much more than working alone.

In 2001, the Hospitality Association voted to self-impose a $1.50 room occupancy tax of which the proceeds would be used for tourism product development. This amount increased to $2.00 in 2007. As of December 2012, the amount collected from this tax exceeded $4.5 million. The Hospitality Association is extremely proud of the positive impact of Ingalls Harbor, Hospitality Park, and the Press Box at Jack Allen. These three venues were the result of the collaboration of the Decatur-Morgan County Hospitality Association and Decatur Parks and Recreation.

The Tourism Industry has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have stood strong in the Decatur Morgan County Area thanks to the industries along the river, events from Decatur Morgan County Tourism and some of our locals. We would like to thank everyone who has had impact on the Tourism in our area. I know during these trying times we have all lended a helping hand to each other. We still are looking for brighter days ahead and the end of this pandemic. I would like to personally invite all tourism professionals – whether directly or indirectly linked to tourism – to be a part of a dynamic group of individuals who contribute to the growth of Decatur and Morgan County. Building business relationships, sharing in educational opportunities, and developing leadership skills are just a few of the benefits of being a member of the Hospitality Association.

As the tourism industry evolves, one thing remains constant. This industry would not survive without the hard work and dedication from those individuals serving the public. From hotels and motels to gas stations and fast food restaurants, so many individuals have an impact on this industry.

If you would like to visit one of our monthly meetings as a guest to experience how you and your business would benefit from joining the Hospitality Association, please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sincerely,

Scott Suenaga, President
Decatur-Morgan County Hospitality Association
